It’s irrational how much I love cheese.

I know lots of other people do too, but it always feels slightly embarrassing to admit. I don’t love all kinds of cheese. I am particular about bleus & stinkers (I can’t really do super-stinky.) The ones I like, I like ok. They say Humboldt Fog is not a bleu cheese. It is to me.

The good news: there is an enormous range of cheese options to choose from without stank. Also, say what you will about Whole Foods, but they pretty much all have excellent cheese counters & people working behind them that have the 🧀 knowledge.

Storytime:

(1) Cheese as technology is absolutely mind-boggling, i.e., how long it lasts & the fact that people figured out they could preserve precious calories this way. It is a marvel of human ingenuity. (Another way of looking at it is that it’s mind-boggling to consider how desperate or hungry or brave the 1st person was who tried to eat it.)

Because, I love cheese so much, I buy a lot of it. Sometimes too much. Even though it lasts a long time, more than occasionally I throw some away (& let’s just be real, I buy expensive, douche-y cheese…)

(2) Lots of people use the iOS Reminders app (probably fewer than the people who just use the Calendar app & don’t know all the winning features of Reminders.)

Everyone knows you can set timed reminders. Not everyone knows about the slightly-under-the-radar geographical reminders feature using “Add a location”.

(3) I set an “Add a location” reminder for the Whole Foods I used to walk by nearly every day that said “Do Not Buy Cheese.”

The reminder worked 100% of the time. It prevented me from buying cheese about 33% of the time. Thus, it did make me slightly more responsible. Thanks,  for helping me save the planet!

The end.
